About Rec Room NYC
A marathon boutique on the Lower East Side, open the four days around the 2026 New York City Marathon. Brands you usually have to shop for online, in one basement, with somewhere to sit.

The concept
Running isn't really a basement sport, but hanging out before and after your run is. Rec Room is a New York City Marathon weekend boutique on the Lower East Side, highlighting running brands you normally would have to shop for online. Try out apparel, accessories, belts, and more in-person. Plus, claim some vintage marathon tees from the 70s and 80s.
Rec Room started in Boston in April 2026, in a basement off Newbury Street during Boston Marathon weekend. Two newsletters and a running store built it out of cinder blocks, milk crates, and Facebook Marketplace furniture, and it turned into the room people kept coming back to between runs. New York is the second one.Running SupplyWe Almost Didn't Have a Boston Popup - The Rec RoomA hap-dashed popup made for us by us at the Boston Marathon almost didn't happen. Sometimes vibes go further than dollars.

Running WylderWhat a pop up taught me about runningOr rather, reminded me why I love it.
It is not an expo and it is not a brand activation. It is a shop with a couch, run by two people who write about running gear for a living and one who sells it, stocked with the things we would actually buy.

Brought to you by
Rec Room is run by the three of us, and we pick the brands together.

Katherine Douglas, Running Wyldera specialty running store in San Francisco
Katherine runs Running Wylder, a specialty running store on Castro Street in San Francisco. It is the retailer in the group: a shop with a shoe wall, weekly group runs, and a door that is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays because the staff are out running.

Lee Glandorf, The Sweat Lookbooka newsletter on sport and style
Lee writes The Sweat Lookbook, a newsletter on the intersection of sport and style: fashion, fitness, branding, and the business behind all of it. One of the early Tracksmith crew, she has spent years spotting athletic fashion trends and setting a few of them.

Cole Townsend, Running Supplya newsletter about running and fashion
Cole writes Running Supply, a newsletter on where running and fashion meet: new releases, the brands coming up, and the campaigns worth noticing. A Buffalo kid who ran track in high school and at Williams, he has been collecting spikes and singlets since the message-board days.
